Yesterday was a Public Holiday in Australia. Hope all the ANZAC's enjoyed their day. Lots of memories, drinking & two-up after their respective city parades.

There is so much deliberation about having relatives, mainly children, of the soldiers marching in the place of past diggers. Only a few short years ago, the ANZAC tradition was being lost due to so few remaining soldiers being able to participate in the parades. It was a borderline decision whether any future parades would occur. Now that family members are allowed to march, numbers have gone through the roof with parades no where near finishing before the alloted 11am service time. Maybe it should be limited to deirect decendants only and not to the children of the children's children of a digger which it seems to have become!

Nope, no heading. I think I remember deleting the code when I first setup the template. Oh well!

I don't know it the above will work, but we'll give it a shot. I'm thinking it may be worthwhile to use the odd title to distinguish between the odd ramblings that occur here. Hey, it makes it look heaps important too!

Just decided to update the Perspective section. Added a bit of text to each image regarding their bizarre origins.

At this stage I'm restricted to five meg of space on the servers of Senet which does limit the number of images that can be downloaded in their full, glorious form. I think the best way to play around with this section is to change the images every now & again, leaving the ones taken down in the Diverse area. Anyone that wants big versions of them once in that section can email me for them.

If anyone gets the opportunity to see "Panic Room", do it, do it, do it! Saw it on Tight-ass Tuesday with a bunch of people and a full cinema at Marion. There's just something about seeing a film in a completely full cinema to improve the experience, even though there's infinitely more noise from rattly bags and unrestrained kids, everybody jumps at the same moment during the scary bits.

The whole Panic room story line is such a simple plot but dealt with really well. I'll change the front page with the poster & link in a few moments.

So glad they used Jodie Foster as the lead over Nicole Kidman. I'm sure Nicole would have done a good job, but Jodie really does throw herself into these kinds of roles. The daughter also looked like Jodie, so it was a good choice.

New current event up on the home page. It is nearly impossible to find local events on a regular basis, so movies will do the trick instead. Saw "Queen of the Damned" on the weekend & by the way people spoke about it afterward, it's a fair bit better than the book.

Australia is getting right into this film industry thing. Queen of the damned is no exception to this case, being filmed at Fox studios. However it is disturbing to see local actors who have done no more than TV sitcoms in the past, gracing the big screen. There's something just not right about Marg Downey appearing in a movie being distributed around the globe!

Noooo! Haven't blogged since the 8th. Been too god-damn busy to scratch myself! We now have a new boss at the club, so everything can now be put back in order. However, even a bunch of feral employees (myself included) have proven that a business can run smoothly without high paid supervision and that maybe, just maybe, we are all responsible adults after all! Who would've thought!

The New Boss comes across pretty confident in his abilities & is so far showing an assertive attitude without trying to be aggressive & cocky! It's all good!

Well, Maggie is back, shaken & probably stirred. No harm has come to him, just a few ruffled feathers on his wonky wing, so he obviously won his battle. His personality has changed the most. Once upon a time he was very timid even after being fed for weeks & although he'd take food by hand, he'd always scurry to a safe distance. Now, he'll sit close waiting for his next chunk of meat but as soon as he is done, runs to the end of the patio & flys over the backyard neighbours fence. It seems as though he may have encroached on another magpie's territory and has now found a safer home. So long as he knows where the tucker is!

take free enneagram test

Apparently this describes my personality. Hmmm...

Just got a call from home.... Maggie is back (see April 1 entry). It's been five days since he's made an appearance & it sounds as though he hasn't eaten for that long as well. Poor little guy has obviously gone into hiding away from from his agresssive relatives. Thankfully, after Sunday night's battle he is unharmed.

Strange box appeared in the bar's store room midday yesterday, origin unknown. A two foot high box, wrapped in "this way up" tape, heavy as & whatever was inside was encased in numerous layers of foam. After the collapse of the Riverside Golf Club's roof on Tuesday, our House Manager is thinking terrorist attack!

What is it about the British that makes them think everyone is out to get them? They're highly irritating, whinging, better than everyone else & they originally colonised Australia with their masses of crims.....

Bugger me, I want to kill a couple now.

Anyway, it turned out to be an airconditioning compressor delivered for some contractors who are working on the system soon. Hmmm, maybe the airconditioning guys are the terrorists. After all, it was the airconditioner that caused the collapse of the Riverside GC roof...

I've actually had a bit of a fascination with Area 51, Groom Lake, Dreamland, Waterworld, The Ranch or what ever name it goes by at the moment. Hopefully it's just a coincidence and not some extra-terrestrial intervention with the knowledge that I've been doing some E.T. searching on the web. There is so much misinformation that exists online about Dreamland and other supposed massive underground bases. The most informative site on Dreamland is "www.dreamlandresort.com" which is operated from the town of Rachel just outside the Nellis Ranges in Nevada. Great photos of an officially non-existant site & it doesn't get hung up on the alien perspective of things. I might add this site to the Links page soon.

I'll have to stand outside tonight & see if I can catch a glimpse of our non-earth visitors!

Adelaide has been getting buzzed by a few UFOs the last couple of nights. Apparently they've been over the Salisbury area north of the city and have caused grief to a pilot trying to land a Parafield Airport. Out at Salisbury is a defence research facility and Edinburgh Air Force Base, which have been the question of previous sightings & strange happenings in prior years. Looks like we may have our own little Area 51 here in South Oz.

Anime & manga, I just don't get it! I thought it should have disappeared after the 104 episodes of Astroboy shown between the 60's & 80's.

The roof of the Riverside Golf Club caved in yesterday around 1PM. We heard about it soon after it happened since the professionals at each club tend to gossip. Two people were killed in the dining room which was renovated a number of years ago. I'm hoping we don't have the same builder!

Being ladies' day at most golf clubs, you would have thought that the Glenelg ladies may be worried that someone they knew may have been involved and eager for information. Not our members! They are absolute troopers & continue along as though nothing has happened. One of the saddest parts of the whole saga is that when the club opens again in a couple of days, there will be ladies on the waiting list at Riverside questioning the availability of membership since they recently heard a couple of spots have been vacated!

After Maggie's battle against his own kind the other night, the other magpies are caroling all around . These carolers can't be seen but it doesn't sound good. So far Maggie is yet to appear for his usual gluttony which is leading us to believe he's flying a bit higher in birdie heaven. R.I.P. Maggie

Looks like this is going to be a stupidly busy day. Our end of membership year finished 1st April. However, since the 1st falls on a public holiday, the last day to pay is the 2nd. Therefore every living soul that likes to hit little white balls will be coming in today, as so many already have. Paying on the second also allows them to have the payment fall into the next month of the credit card period. Basically, they receive another month to pay the amount in real money to the bank.

It's interesting to note that the richest people pay the latest. More money than sense. Yet in this case they are actually thinking. It's still bloody annoying!

Comments now installed! Let me know what you think about all the crap I write!

One more day of this four day long weekend to go. Caught up with a good friend this afternoon. Her current project is painting the gutters of her house. As she has found out, the area in which she now lives (a few streets from me) had a HUGE obsession with the paint colour of "mission brown". It was apparently an 80's craze, a somewhat conservative approach to residential design. Gutters, window frames, door frames, fences & backyard sheds are smothered in this solitary hue. The guy who produced the stuff must be living it up in the Bahamas, because he sold a lake of this drab paint. So anyway, her gutters are now a beige shade, and look a whole lot better. The stange part about this house is the colours used inside. The kitchen has dated terribly with green benchtops matched charmingly with canary yellow cupboards. Must have been built during the America's Cup campaign when everything was green & gold, an "Aussie, aussie, aussie, oi, oi, oi" type of spirit. Let me just say that the kitchen is not the only odd feature, with a lurid red used for a bedroom & puke green for the bathroom. Too many 80's disasters in this area of the world I'm afraid!

We have unofficially adopted a magpie.

He seems to have hurt his wing which affects his take-offs but once in the air flys perfectly. Unfortunately he's had to fly well to avoid the other magpies who contiune to hunt him down & attack. He's been around the property for four odd weeks & we are able to feed him by hand. He also enjoys playing under our sprinklers on the side lawn which he is doing in the photo. It is unlikely he will survive the natural selection process which occurs in nature which will be sad, but after munching through some rather healthy helpings of mince meat, he has to be the strongest bird around. He gives as good as he gets! We found him in distress tonight, fighting on the ground, taking on three other magpies and coming away unscathed. Go Maggie!
