There have been a number of updates to the Adelaide imagery on Google Earth which are worth checking out.

A few local landmarks around the Happy Valley area less than two years old now & the Adelaide Airport has the land cleared for the new terminal, but Magic Mountain still exists at Glenelg, so there is a real mix of old & new(ish).

Germany is now completely covered with high resolution imagery, so if this is an indication of what we will see in the future for other countries, it should be spectacular (but not using my 56k modem for the job!).

I actually had a dream a while back where myself & a bunch of others were in a "Amazing Race" style competition & were able to travel the Google Earth method. Pick a location & you would fly out like being fired from a cannon & then plummet back down, landing gracefully at the next destination!

Maybe Google should think about making this a reality (excusing some basic physics) in a futre version!

Oh, by the way, Happy Easter everybody!

From where I'm sitting, there is the aluminium foil face of a rabbit looking at me.

It has no knowledge of how tasty its chocolate innards would go down right at this moment.

Hmmm, chocolatey goodness!

Here's a little online program I love, Kisekae Tele. Essentially, it's a guitar designer using a number of well known electric guitars which can be painted in any conceivable colour, with any type of hardware & bits & pieces which take your fancy!

First, here is my actual Fender Stratocaster which I've been banging about on for the last ten years.

& then here is the Kisekae version.

Unfortunately, it wouldn't let me add any more screws to make it complete, but it's not bad for about five minutes work! The colour is hard to get right because of the metallic edge around the body, but it is very close to what it looks like up close.

The program allows the manual placement of the pickups, controls & even the string trees.

Next, is a custom shop strat which I wouldn't mind having built, with anodised aluminium scratchplate, body colour headstock & rosewood neck.

Finally, here's a messed up Telecaster with a Bigsby Tremolo, PAF Humbuckers & a reliced neck. It's a crap design, but it shows what sort of stuff can be done!

I checked out the Adelaide Motor Show last Saturday afternoon, which is a bit of a yearly tradition.

Lots of shiny new cars, (the majority of which I can't afford) were, by the end of the show, covered in grotty finger marks from the teenagers who had just scoffed down some hot chips & a hotdog out in the food court.

The weekend is probably the worst time to go to the motor show, because everyone else is there. For the first three days of the show, only those who can realistically afford to not be working go along. Ironically, they're also those who can afford the grandiose price tags attached to some of the machines on display.

I'm still a massive fan of the VW Golf GTI. It's good looking, goes like a skun cat, but it drinks the really top notch petroleum. I also have a soft spot for the Mini Cooper S, but it's only two doors, so the Golf is the better option.

In the age where fuel removes a fifty from my wallet every fortnight, justifying a car which chews the hardcore octane variety is difficult. My little Daihatsu Charade has nearly 120,000 on the dial & has returned 6.7litres per 100km since the day I bought it. As an everyday, drive to work & back at 40kph, anything more palatial would be a waste.

It was interesting to see the number of diesel vehicles being advertised. Australian manufacturers are starting to see sense in alternative fuels, especially with the prices of petrol hitting stupid levels this Easter weekend. Another car I've been looking at is the Golf diesel, but when you actually work out the increased cost of buying a diesel car against the savings of using diesel, it takes quite a few years to realise any benefit!

I left the show with my bank account intact, but my legacy of my appearance at the show remains, captured in dozens of digital photos by people taking photos of everything & anything. Who the hell wants to have their photo taken while they're draped over the hood of a crappy little $10k Hyundai? Yes, I witnessed it, but I'm still to determine who you would show such a photo to!

Australia's version of The Biggest Loser has been a bit of a suprise packet of late. Watching really overweight people get taken to the very edge of exploding their left ventricle, is somewhat appealing, regardless of the cruelty factor.

I usually get home from work as it starts, so it's not uncommon that it's wasting valuable electricity in the background while I do other things.

On more than one occasion, I have taken a glance at the screen when I thought I recognised a voice of Terri Psiakis from Triple J, only to find contestant, Fiona gracing the screen.

I'm proclaiming that these two ladies are misplaced sisters from some ménage à trois a couple of decades ago. They may not look like one another, but they sure do sound the same.

Next time they're on TV or radio, have a listen & test my theory!
