Here's a first for me, the infamous Friday Five! Well, here goes...

1. What's the last vivid dream that you remember having?

Wednesday night as mentioned in earlier entries below. Not one for the faint hearted, especially for those that have worked at FACO. A lot of my dreams are quite vivid actually, especially during the last few months of the year. It must have something to do with the weather, but I can remember my dreams nearly every morning!

2. Do you have any recurring dreams?

I would say yes to this, but it is sometimes obscure. I sometimes have a dream in which I'll see something that I have dreamt before. Such things could be analysed to death, so I won't.

3. What's the scariest nightmare you've ever had?

Nightmares, thankfully are a rarity. Nearly every single dream I have involves people & places that I know. That being said, some things are distored in appearance. For example, being in the FACO offices (read below for details),all the furniture & offices were placed differently & when I dream about my house & it's surroundings, streets and houses are arranged differently.

4. Have you ever written your dreams down or considered it? Why or why not?

I don't write down dreams mainly because I don't believe all the so-called professionals that use dream elements as symbols for what's going on in someone's life. However, I do have occasions of deja vu in which part of a dream will happen in real life.

5. Have you ever had a lucid dream? What did you do in it?

Yep, but whenever I realise that I am actually dreaming, I'll automatically draw myself out of the dream into an awaken state. An odd situation in some dreams is the incorporation of real sounds into the dream. Such things will be like the telephone ringing in real life, but I don't wake because a phone will be ringing in the dream as well. I describe it as predicting the future a split second before it happens.

By the way, the diverse area should be up in the next week or so, maybe earlier if I get off my butt & sort it all out. I’m not quite sure how to define the diverse section other than to say it will contain all the stuff that won’t fit as a blog entry & should be held on their own instead of becoming lost in a mess of archives that no-one will ever bother scanning through. Let’s just say that the stuff included will match the section title!

Couple of updates to the site. Sorted out the home page & discarded the events link. It didn’t last long because it was all to hard having to find an appropriate image, alter it for colour & dimension and change the links in the dream.

The subtle change is the colour of the page tabs so you know exactly where you are. If you are reading this it should be there by now, if not, I’m sure someone will let me know!

I’ve just registered for the ASX charity share trading competition. I tried to enter it last year, but registration details went awry & I never ended up playing. This year, I’m all ready to go. It all sounds a bit geeky, but hey, there’s $6,000 up for grabs and that would be nice!

Busy, busy, busy, slow.

Everyone is run off their feet. Midday came before turning around twice after a meeting, troubles with the kitchen plumbing, blah, blah, blah. Then it all came to a stop & I’m back to looking for something semi-interesting to fill the remaining hours.

Had a bizarre dream about being back at Fennell, Allen & Co (FACO). The whole ground floor of the office building was open with everyone celebrating some sort of function. Most of the staff I didn’t know (probably due to the massive staff turnover they’ve always had) and then my previous boss was standing announcing my return to the firm. Thankfully I woke up seconds after this horrifying moment.

Going back to work at FACO would actually be a nightmare, but I admit I have had the odd thought about the circumstances surrounding my resignation there. Overall, the people were fantastic and I still classify a bunch of them as friends but I know that if I had stayed there, I would be far less mentally stable than currently.

After watching my friend Leah contend with working for the same boss & getting caught on a downward spiral, literally crying for the mere fact of being in the confines of the workspace. I didn’t think anything could be as bad as she made out, until about six months after she left & the same situation was panning out for myself.

Looking back, I definitely made the right move at the right time. Even though what I’m doing now is not the most satisfying or exiting gig, I do have more time to just live. I’m no longer consumed by my employment, unaware of what was happening around me. At FACO, I would start & finish work in darkness, I never needed to know the weather since the building was climate controlled, & I was there nearly every weekend.

At Glenelg Golf Club (GGC), I can leave work & not think about the place until walking though the front door the following day or after the weekend. It gives that level of detachment that I think is required. It’s not that I don’t want to think about work, rather the fact that I don’t have to & that anything which comes along day to day, I can handle without any stress.

After writing all that, analysing my subconscious, I can now say that my hair is no longer receding & seems to be growing back!

Fairly boring day today. The middle of the month is naturally slow for me, so I’m bumming about looking for stuff to do and writing this.

The parents have decided to bolt for a day or so & check out the country side. Dad’s sorting out his future with Australia Post & after being with them for quite a few decades, has a stash of holidays owing. I don’t know exactly where they’re off to but it leaves me with the house to myself for a day or so. Therefore the neighbors will hear a bit of guitar work tomorrow night.

An update to the remainder of Tuesday. I went to see my sister perform in the Gilbert & Sullivan show “Gondoliers”. I do enjoy stage shows in the caliber of Les Miserables or Annie, etc, but G&S shows have never really done anything for me. From the comments heard in the interval, it sounds like quite a few people caught up on some sleep during the first Act. It’s not that the performances were bad, it’s just they had little to work with script wise. The other issue was the woman next to me. One of those wannabe high-brow people that even though they look like crap. She was on the larger side (fat as all hell) & carrying some fluffy overcoat thing the size of a doona & she stank! Nothing more to say really.

I’m writing this at 1:30pm but I’ve had enough happen so far that the day is full to the brim.

Firstly, I tried to nail a cat at 60kph, but to no avail (it would have been a good thing!).

Second, after getting into the office, I’ve found a message to our functions coordinator from Michelle. The Michelle I spoke about in a recent post. She is getting married as I was informed & they are having their reception at the Club. Out of the dozens of function centres in the whole of Adelaide, they have chosen to have it here. Now if anyone tells me that it is pure coincidence I’d have to smack them out. At least I won’t be at the Club on the night of the event & that this whole saga is coming to an end. I’ll probably always have feelings for Michelle, but if it didn’t come back to haunt me every now & again it would be a hell of a lot easier.

Anyway, to top it all off, today marks to 75th anniversary of the Club, so there are dignitaries galore winging their way around the place. Using my digital camera, I’ve taken a few shots for the history books & for publishing in the Messenger Press (crappy local rag). Then the bad bit… At the very end of proceedings I’ve managed to wedge my foot between a couple of pieces of concrete surrounding the balcony, twisting my ankle and hurling my digital camera in slow motion at the tiles. I must say that the Canon A20 bounces really well! From the height of trajectory and the speed of impact, it should have fared a whole lot worse, but I was able to pick it up & continue to shoot. Bloody amazing! Couple of scratches are the only evidence to the disaster!

Adelaide Cup public holiday today. These long weekends just creep up every now & again but that’s a good thing. It has been raining since about Thursday, giving rise to a few leaks in our roof but thankfully for the races, the big dark clouds stayed away allowing for a reasonably dry meet.

As everyone can see, this page has been set up for use on screen sizes 800 x 600 & upward. I can’t believe people still use 800 x 600…. anyway that’s not the point to this blog.

I do read quite a few blogs from other people on an almost daily basis, but there isn’t really any room on the right there to stuff some of the web site names. That being the case, I’m going to place a bundle in the diverse section when I can, along with a whole stack of other mind-numbing information for the masses.

Okay, there’s nothing at all there yet, but it’s coming…. I promise…

Share trading is so much fun. Sure as hell doesn’t look it, but it is.

There’s something about having a wad of hard-earned tied up in a company that doesn’t give a toss about you, & then sitting around watching their share price go up & down not knowing whether that company is about to go bust or think of something that will revolutionise every aspect of the way we live & make money hand over fist.

In my case they are far more likely to go arse-up, eg. One-tel. After all my financial education and being a complete scrooge, I still manage to lose more money than gain.

However, there is some enjoyment, updating my watchlist over the web every now and again, seeing the price fluctuate. From a non-shareholder is must seem as boring as shit, but if it makes money at the end of the day, I’ll be over the bloody moon.

The circus has come to the Glenelg Golf Club!

Well, not exactly. From the Clubhouse a stings of those little flag things they use on construction sites can be seen strung up in the distance behind one of the greenkeepers sheds in the shape of a circus big top.

I’m sure the members are quite happy that there aren’t any big elephants plodding around the fairways.

Bugger me! Forgot to wish a Happy Mother’s Day last weekend. So…. Happy Mother’s Day.

Yes, I did remember my own Mother thankyou. I’m just wishing it to everyone else’s mother.

Dreams really do suck sometimes. Every couple of months, a chick called Michelle does a cameo appearance which is comforting at the time but quite disturbing when awake.

I haven’t seen this girl for three or so years & that was only a brief chat. The time before that was the final day of high school in 92. It is the case that Michelle was a bit of a high school sweetheart, though nothing ever happened between us.

I have written here before about a girl called Kate or “Panther” as she was known on ICQ. Panther contacted me and after various discussions over a couple of weeks she ended up being an accounts clerk being supervised directly by Michelle. The probability of this connection is, I reckon, a couple of million to one but anything is possible.

Panther has not been on ICQ for about five months now & quite possibly she blocked me after I asked her for Michelle’s email address to simply say hello & congratulate her on her engagement. I now have to seriously question whether this girl actually knew Michelle & was merely messing with my head.

Michelle was definitely attractive & almost always had a boyfriend. We were friends but over the last couple of years of high school drifted apart which makes me wonder why I still have these dreams with her in them.

Maybe there is some loose ends that exist, although I can’t think of any, or some sort of interplanetary connection between us, although she would be having these thoughts as well.

Any guidance from these so called dream analysis specialists would be appreciated, though maybe I am just nuts!

Scored a catalogue from Elderly Instruments that was ordered online about six months ago. Had fully forgotten about it but I do hope it enjoyed the extensive travel itinerary it has had from New York to Adelaide.

Abbreviating the state of South Australia down to S.A. when dealing with international mail guarantees a trip to its ultimate destination via quite a few mail rooms in South Africa as they try to work out where the hell Happy Valley is.

The Seven Network is certainly struggling at the moment. With the loss of most of the AFL matches to Channel Nine & Ten & now the lack of ratings from the second series of Big Brother, Seven are reeling & downright furious.

In a vain attempt to put people off watching Big Brother, the Seven Network’s Today Tonight program has broadcast a story relating to a streaker on last weeks eviction show. Basically, they condone this nutbag’s actions due to the content of the show promoting nudity, etc. They’ve just decided to ignore the danger it posed to host, Gretel Colleen & others.

It was only a few minutes after having all sorts of psychotherapists & analysts condemn BB for their Uncut version of the show, that Seven advertised their “uncut” version of Temptation Island!! The fact that the Seven Network have approached Endemol Entertainment with a bid of $30m for hosting rights of Big Brother 3 is another issue entirely!

What the? Just noticed an earlier entry where all the apostrophes are sitting there as question marks! I dunno, this technology stuff really is whacked out some days.

Getting back into share trading this week. I think I?m finally over the loss I made on One-tel. I worked out that with the dividends I?ve received and the huge profit I?m making on a few Coca-Cola shares, I?m just in front.

The market took a bit of a dive on Monday and I leapt in as well, buying a few cheap Harvey Norman shares, then subsequently watched them fall. I?m still watching them fall but they are at a twelve month low now, so here?s hoping they return the confidence I have in them.

Oh my god they?re still dropping!!!

Had a heart-stopper on Friday morning. Turned into the Golf Club entrance only to find an old Commodore sedan in the way with two people inside and the windscreen shattered. After a few moments I backed up to drive around the barrier in the middle of the entrance and get around them only to find the male driver leaning forward over the wheel, his eyes fully bloodshot & generally not looking all that healthy. Wound down the window to ask them if they were okay and all they required was a petrol station to fill up. Doesn’t quite explain why they were sitting there with the engine running….. Anyway, left them there to sort that one out for themselves. Maybe they could afford fuel if they cut back on the drugs!

Yep, like many Aussies, I’m actually hooked on the second series of Big Brother. I watched the majority of the first series, but the housemates were fairly annoying and bored. This time around, most of them have jobs and an education, which makes them far more interesting. Thankfully that was the objective in selecting new competitors & it has definitely helped when editing the uncut edition on a Thursday night teaching sexually restrained Australian’s thing or two!

The usual cries of conspiracy enter into play on how people are shown each night on TV. If the producers don’t particularly want someone in the house, they have the ability to show any footage which presents that person in a bad light. Is it some sort of plot by Big Brother? Quite possibly. However, Big Brother may not want to give the final prize to the most deserving, but the individual who will be the most acceptable for after series marketing. You can’t exactly have some complete twat scouping the pool and then try to use them to promote any future shows.

Updated the Home page with a new event. The Adelaide Cabaret Festival is part of the Adelaide Festival and runs from the 7th to 23rd June.

No-one picked up the fact that the last link on the home page was incorrect. Is anybody out there???

May I just say that I love the design of the new Mini. After going to the Adelaide Motor Show recently & seeing both the Cooper & Cooper S in all their glory, they rock.

The piss poor effort done for the re-make of the new Beetle has made people cautious of the Mini in case the standards had plummeted in a similar fashion. It simply isn’t the case at all. Not that BMW or Rover would allow their names into disrepute by presenting the public with a piece of crap and marketing it as a worthy piece of yesteryear. The opposite is true. Sure it’s bigger in every way but so are the volumes of regulations which govern safety these days. Anyway, who would want a new Mini as small as the original? It had to change with the times.

Does that mean I’m going to fork out the A$40,000 for the Cooper S? Not likely at this stage. It’s still a lot of money for a small car and I’d prefer to own a house at this point rather than replace a good little buzz box that’s currently gets me from A to B. But hey, it’s worth dreaming!

Betty the psychopathic laundry lady is in the building. The entire clubhouse staff just seem to vanish whenever her “nails down a chalkboard” voice rattle the windows. She means no harm as she flirts with the bar staff some 30 years younger, but that doesn’t make it any less scary.

Privacy laws went through the Australian parliament in October restricting the passing of information to unscrupulous third parties. Businesses love the requirements as in order for them to not pass on information, each & every person has to request the business they entrusted with their private details not pass them on. Of course every form which one of these businesses sends out, has the same requirement on it, normally in the form of a tickable box hidden beside some microscopic writing. Therefore, if you ever forget to tick one of these boxes, you again find yourself on mailing lists from here to Guatemala & back.

There’s this chick see. Yeah, she’s cute. What’s her name….hmmm… it’s either Alison or Nicole, not sure. Anyway, I only see her on occasion when she pops into the office to deliver clothing for our Greenkeeping staff. Spoken to her once but other people were waiting, so it never ventured off being purely business, however I managed to provoke a really nice smile from her last time she was here. All I need to do now, is find a way to capture her in conversation and ask her out for coffee.

This asking out thing is not one of my greatest forte’s. I have relationships with some really great girls, but unfortunately they’re all taken and not available for the dating game.

Okay, I’ve just found out it’s Nicole we’re dealing with here and all the other Greenkeepers have taken a liking to her as well. Looks like I have a bit of competition then. Thankfully, she always comes into the office instead of direct to the Greenkeeper’s shed where they’re stationed.

Why do people standing in the queue at banks always smell funny?

Apparently a few people browse the many thousands of blogs which now litter the web. Included in those is this one. I haven't as yet gone to great extremes to publicise the web address with various blog directories etc, but occasionally someone stumbles into it's realms.

One of the people I work with discovered the original site mainly due to me telling them it was uploaded. He's continued to have a look & has seen the current design & doesn't like the title. I've mentioned earlier that "One before unlucky" does have meaning on a personal level, therefore the care factor is minimal & it's also easier to find through search engines. It's also unlikely that any changes will occur unless there is a mass revolt and going by the current readership, simply won't happen.

As yet my family have no idea I’ve got a page up & running. So far I think I’ve been highly cautious in what I write. There is the constant feeling that what ends up here may rock the apple cart in someone’s world and come back to bite me. As yet, of course, this hasn’t happened. Maybe I need to be that bit more consistent in posting & things may flow a little better with time. Part of the reason for setting up a blog was to get things off my mind & find a bit of inspiration for song writing. This too is yet to happen but hopefully some wave of mindful thought might be cast over me some day.

Okay, so I wrote this medium size blog regarding how so many people use blogs for whining only. Well, now that blog has disappeared into oblivion I'm going to have my whinge.

I've come to the conclusion that I'm going to write all the stuff I'm thinking in a separate file and post it all (broken into to separate blogs) at the one time from home, then at least I know everything I type won't be wasted. So much brilliance has occurred, only to be lost... a-hmmm.

Therefore check back on Mondays for up to date goings on. If something major happens during a week & it is a short post, I'll send it through.
