Congratulations to Lina & Danny on their new son Stephen, born yesterday afternoon.

Three weeks early, 7 pound 3 ounces & all involved doing well.

I love good news like this!

Well, it finally looks like we're going to see a nice big shit fight. However, it was all pretty inevitable months ago. The problem for Bush was finding a legitimate reason to invade Iraq.

Our lackey John Howard has committed our troops & seems quite happy to go along for the ride. I personally think that this America's invasion & it's wrong for us to be involved. It makes me wonder what is really going on. John is not a stupid man & he's made some tough decisions over the last few years. Therefore, what does he know that the rest of the public doesn't.

I think it would be foolish to think that Saddam doesn't have some big-ass weapons. Hell, America sold them to him to begin with. Based on the information known about Donald Rumsfeld & his transactions with Iraq, I can't believe he is still part of the government.

I just hope the Yanks know what their doing. Saddam is playing on his own turf & if he has these weapons, he may well use them, since he has nothing to lose.

What I am surprised with is Saddam's lack of response. Surely a pre-emptive strike against the troops sitting on the borders would be an option. Why wait for the party to come to him?

I think Saddam is a bad man & his track record puts this beyond dispute. However, I think George Bush is quickly getting an equal footing in the dictator stakes. He's merely invading a country for personal gain, which is somewhat reminisent of what Iraq did to Kuwait a decade & a bit ago.

You know a war is on the way when the usual becomes strange & uninvited.

Every Thursday there is a flyover by one or two fighter planes from the Edinburgh Air Base. They've been doing it for years, but the other Thursday was different.

The sudden rush that accompanies loud sounds caught everyone in the hotel off guard & for a few seconds, I was included. Staff & patrons scurried to windows to look skyward as if the war against Iraq was being fought over little Adelaide.

I've finally collected enough keys that splitting personal & work keys has become necessary.

Twelve in total doesn't sound too bad but two of them happen to be safe keys, which weigh as much as the rest of them put together.

Thankfully, one of our beer suppliers at the hotel had a promotion recently & one of the instant win prizes were keyrings, a clip similar to those climbers use to hook onto ropes.

Now I can seperate the two sets at any time & not jangle when I walk or destroy my cars ignition by having a kilo of metal hanging from it.

I originally thought it was the copious amounts of pot being smoked at Womad that had me all wheasy on Saturday night, but I now that the runny nose is directly related to a cold.

A few days of sniffles ahead.

Had a very interesting day at Womadelaide on Saturday. The Womad festival is a now yearly event held in the city's Botanic gardens featuring music from around the globe on six stages. Sort of like Triple J's "Big Day Out" but focussing on multicultural music.

I was knocked over by the $92 entry ticket at first, but the event is really well organised & if you can't get your monies worth there would be something wrong.

We entered at 11am & departed some twelve & a bit hours later, in the process seeing around ten acts performing an hour set each.

Certain acts were not too my taste, but I'm sure a lack of exposure to specific cultures was the cause. Other acts were truely brilliant & very unexpected. Such as

The two highlights, in my humble opinion of course, were, irish singer Cara Dillon & The Waifs.

Cara both sung & looked like an angel. We actually managed to see her early in the day on a large stage again late at night on a small stage where we sat about six feet from the stage. I have a lot of respect for a performer & their band being able to play pieces they have never performed live before and pull them off flawlessly.

The Waifs were also amazing. I wasn't sure how well their recorded songs would sound live, but even though they are an acoustic outfit, they rocked harder than most bands I've ever seen. I will definately be hunting down their cd.

A bit of preparation will be put into next years venture if we go, such as taking my camera (they were supposed to be banned but everyone else seemed to have one), portable chairs, thermos, light but warmer clothing & sunscreen. I kept a hat on but i've come up a lovely shade of lobster!

The good days at work but the bad days are fucking horrible. (excuse the French)

I'm pretty sure 'fuck' is not a French word, but hey, you have to blame it on someone!

Anyway, only one thing has pissed me off more than normal & that is in regards to the Automatic Teller Machine that sits just outside of the gaming room & unfortunately I have control over it.

When the ATM plays up & mutilates somone's mulah, It's not my fault in a personal sense but that didn't stop someone making the allegation.

For $100, a guy was quite prepared to bring in his band of solicitors & go public to tarnish my & the hotel's name.

I'm not sure how many newspapers or television shows would pick up & run with a story about a wonky ATM.... but then again... Channel 7's Today Tonight do that sort of crap!

I've decided to go ahead & get the ericsson t68i.

I could wait for a new & improved bluetooth model phone, but since it's not going to cost me anything to change over, I may as well.

I managed to obtain the brochures on the phone & the call plans & it looks as though I will actually be paying less overall per month. However, I'm still looking for the catch.

I should be able to do something about it on Thursday night.

I used to do the odd movie review here, but it hasn't been all that possible over the last few months due to the hectic work of the new job, well that's my excuse anyway!

So here is a quick rundown of what I've seen recently & what I thought;

James Bond - Die Another Day: Occasionally, you just need to see an over the top action film & who better to provide that than Mr Bond. Lets face it, everyone loves cool gadgets & the chicks dig the car!

Catch Me If You Can: The fact that this film is based on a true story is amazing. I would never have thought of Leo & Hank working together on a film, but they are both flawless. The moral of the story has to be that sometimes crime does in fact pay!

Chicago: Seeing Richard Gere sing & dance for that first time is quite a disturbing experience. After that you realise that a great film can be born from a Broadway musical.

One Hour Photo: Richard Gere may been disturbing but Robin Williams perfects it here. Living in a world of clinical beige, an obsessed photo processing guy becomes a wallpaper expert.

Star Trek - Nemesis: Not really a big screen film but more of a two episode tv show. Crashing starships are the highlight! Surely Picard has lost the 'rating one' on his insurance!

Gangs of New York - Another great film, but one I definately want to see again to take it all in. The tapping of the knife against the glass eye was both disgusting & cool at the same time.

I'm planning on seeing 'The Hours' when I find enough hours to fit it in.

The archives are back!! The archives are back!! Woohoo!!

I knew they would, but I don't know why!

I had my television debut last weekend! It was so significant, I had actually forgotten about it!

For approximately two & a half seconds, I could be seen sitting at a table in Café Blu (one of the food outlets at the Pier Hotel), for a promotional shoot of new places at Glenelg.

The shoot was used for the Channel 9 show "Postcards". The link to the actual story (unfortunately, I don't make the photos!), is here.

I think the roof of my car out in the carpark actually got more airtime!

I don't know what's happened to my archives.

They've all gone missing, but I know that Blogger has had some server errors lately!

I know it's not the web page code because I haven't changed anything for ages. It does remind me however, that I should make some changes around here & give it a freshen up.

Photos would be a good start.
