Is John Mayer going to be the legendary performer of this generation?

I can't think of any musician that has landed under stage lights with such precision as Mr Mayer. Usually, the release of a live performance on DVD is one of those item released after many years of a career & after many public requests. John managed to release "Any Given Thursday" after one official studio album.

His second album, "Heavier Things" released in Australia on Monday cements his talents way beyond the many average artists that populate the sales charts. This new album has taken a couple of listens to actually get into which had me worried at first. I thought maybe this mix of songs might not reach people in the same way as "Room for Squares" but there is definitely a new angle being taken & I like it! (Not so sure about horns on a CD, but it's a brave decision & I'll let him off this time!)

Finally, we've caught up with the rest of the planet & Cherry Coke now has a residency on the shelves of our supermarkets!

It's a bit different from what I expected but I'm not disappointed. The cherry flavour is almost like an after-taste rather than a mouth full of cherries.

Hmmm, not bad at all!

In the last Friday Five I took time to perform, I mentioned this web site had been up & running since August 28, 2001. Whoops, missed the anniversary by eight days!

I've actually neglected the internet for a while actually, getting instead mixed up heavily in the music world. The onset of Spring in this little land of Oz has had my mind wandering in all the right directions. I'm finally getting back into writing music & getting a few songs into a playable format.

While I write this, I have Stevie Ray Vaughan playing in the DVD drive, John Mayer Mp3's downloading & a search for Jimi Hendrix happening in the background. From this you may be able to gauge the influences in my playing!

I must be going through a really creative period, as I'm also itching to pull apart this site, eliminate some of the padding & keep only the good stuff. It's about time too. I haven't mucked with it significantly for probably a year!

I'll try to post a bit more too (I keep saying it, hoping it'll happen!!).
